About the Role

We’re looking for a compassionate, relationship-focused coordinator to support our Volunteer and Palliative programs during a maternity leave coverage period. This role is central to ensuring our volunteers feel connected, informed, and supported as they provide care to individuals and families experiencing death, dying, grief, and loss.

You’ll work closely with a collaborative team of staff and volunteers, helping to maintain continuity of our programs while fostering a strong, engaged volunteer community.

What You’ll Do

Volunteer Support & Engagement

  • Be a key point of connection for volunteers, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and informed.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to meet client and program needs.
  • Communicate regularly regarding program updates, organizational events, and engagement opportunities.
  • Support training and retention efforts, helping to build a strong and connected volunteer team.

Palliative & Hospice Program Coordination

  • Assist with intake and coordination of palliative client referrals and volunteer matching.
  • Manage the volunteer schedule at McKenney Creek Hospice.
  • Maintain supplies and resources to support hospice operations.
  • Represent the Hospice Society at weekly palliative rounds.
  • Support program continuity through collaboration with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Assist with event planning for society events (e.g., Oktoberfest, Time to Remember, Hike for Hospice).

What You Bring

  • Experience: Previous work in volunteer coordination, healthcare, or a related field (hospice/palliative care experience is an asset).
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Values: A compassionate, empathetic approach to end-of-life care and grief support.
  • Organization: Excellent time management and the ability to multitask.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Tech Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
